i had to go back and check. step one: unarm the citizens. thinkin about ellsbergs paralell: W to the reichstadt (??) interesting paradox: the ones most likely to see W as dictator seem to be anti gun as well. bowling for columbine.
what is the dance and how is it executed? and then what. i understand the fury. i wonder about the logistics. you wrote about socialism at auntys. thats not going to fly. i just saw a piece on how the state turned off the water on a bunch of farmers and their crops are burning up. thats a heads up if i ever saw one. theres a million ways to mess a people up and not just the obvious. i sorta like the whole disappear cease to exist on paper idea but that sounds insane.

thanks for your visit to the yard. youre right the land is everrything.

scary stuff. i have to watch again.

that line ...quoting a congresswoman ..."my constiuents are interested in this..."

there's the rub.

they aren't. who is? we are taught not to care - to be apathetic and uncritical in our thinking.

i see this everyday in my classroom. students arrive at college with barely any critical thinking skills, thinking that I, the teacher, have all the ansers and and will just hand them over. they believe anything i say. it's scarier than shit.

scarier still when i volunteer every fall to register voters - i think, wow - i really don't want these folks voting - they are so ill-informed and they don't care about anything except what they are told to care about - by corporate america.

hmmm... i've been considering teaching 1984 again in the fall. and a unit on political ads. and on why you should, indeed, sweat the details.

K9,
I've been meaning to cover the gun thing. It's a twisted misinterpretopia of crap. ?Thank God the Brady had a partial sunset. You always hear about the anti-handgun crowd. You hear how they want to leave you defenseless in the face of a dictator. Serioiusly, take my sidearm if you wanna, cause I wasn't gonna use it against armored paramilitary types. Thats what the SKS and AK-47 are for. Those were banned for 10 years and everyone was tickled pink cause they got to keep their dirty Harry guns. When the paramilitary comes foe you they will fire from well outside the 5'-15' accuracy zone of the hangun. 100 meters dead on with the tin sights is not hard for an SKS. Plus sharpies punch armor, hollow points do not.
I did not write about socialism, I asked what was wrong with it. Thanks for the reminder. I was curious if he could answer the question or if he was just so inundated with conservative jingles that he knew nothing of socialism other than it being wrong. Kinda bleeds into the next point...

Bird,
Someone who has never been forced to think does not realize they have to. example- the other day I was bartending. A man came in with half an ignition key in his hand and a desperate plea for help;
"I was just driving from my sickmother's house across town to my house where my pregnant wife might be going into labor. My key broke off in the ignition. I don't have a phone and I need to get there. Could someone lend me cab fare."
DDo you see the problem? 3or 4 customers jumped up to help. I just asked him why he did not ask his Mom for it. He and the customers looked at me funny. Anyone wanna guess why I asked that?

i knew you would say that about what are our little peas shooters against the mighty mighty. i get that.
BTW plenty of folks saw the writing on the wall and stockpiled those banned guns. i bet aunty knows where she can lay her hands on one.

but what are "they" going to do? kill everybody? or kill enough to apply fear a la waco/ruby ridge type scenarios. i want to read what you think is going to happen. youre always saying conseratives are motivated by fear and i disagree with that notion.

still, as you and bird discuss, critical thinking comes into play. we'll have to be part guerilla, part systems analyst, part wilderness guide. getting creative with it....it wont matter who's in charge. I would rather have W than john kerry anyday. those were the options.

lets say you could get rid of W. out problem is here comes the new boss, same as the old boss. i think clinton was incredibly damaging to this country. he was cult of personality for real. inaction so he could be loved and adored which is what motivated him. he let too much slide. i dont see the sinister dark machinations of this administration as far as grasping onto a third term based on disaster.

i really want to see your post on what those of you who think this is a plausible event are going to do about it. if youve no faith in a well armed citizenry then what?

as far as my point i was more along the lines of last stand go down fighting kind of scenario. not getting loaded up onto boxcars if ya know what i mean. no illusions.

So Clinton removed all the regulations which Bush has taken advantage of. The media deregulation has been the most damaging, but don't forget that Clinton gave no bid contracts in Kosovo to Halliburton. Clinton also calls Barbara Bush "Mom". Assuming you read Dune, remember the Baron's plan for Arrakis. Send in Beast Rabban to fuck up everything then send in Feyd Ruatha as the savior of the people. Same actual leaders, dsame goals but the people think everything is different. Now who is the Democratic front runner, Hillary. I will let you think about that. I will put upo a what to do in cse of Dictatorship soon.
